ג – Vital Truths

Review from part 1:

“If Yeshua is so good, then why did he die on a tree, like a common criminal?”

2 Corinthians 5:21

It was necessary for Messiah to suffer innocently and to be wrongly assumed guilty

Yeshua: The Suffering Servant Part 2

Isaiah 53 – Problem for non-Messianic Judaism

Answering Objections to The Suffering Servant Theme in Isaiah

Objection 1 – You Paint the Picture of 2 Messiahs

  • We believe that Yeshua the Messiah came the first time to die for our sins as a humble Servant
  • He will return a second time to reign as king.

Isaiah 53:4–6

Objection 2 – The Nation of Israel is the fulfillment of Isaiah 53

1. Israel is not an innocent sufferer, as is the individual described in the passage.

Isaiah 53:9–12

2. Israel is not a silent sufferer, as is the individual described in the passage.

Isaiah 53:7

3. Israel never died, as did the individual described in the passage.

Isaiah 53:8

4. The text points to the suffering of an individual, not a nation.

Isaiah 53:4

5. Instead, the nation of Israel is the beneficiary of the Servant’s sacrifice.

Isaiah 53:11–12

The subject of Isaiah 53 simply cannot be Israel as a nation.

Acts 8:26–35
