When I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Anointed One, for the accuser of our brothers and sisters—the one who accuses them before our God day and night—has been thrown out. - Revelation 12:10 TLV
Somewhere along the way in your life, someone you respected, loved or held in high esteem spoke words over you that shaped your opinion of yourself. Someone told you:
- "You don't measure up."
- "You don't have what it takes."
- "I don't like you."
- "I wish I'd never had you."
- "You're pathetic."
- "You're never going to amount to anything."
- "I wish you were more like so-and-so"
- "Why can't you be more like so-and-so's child"
- "Your a quitter. Your such a looser. You never follow through."
And internally, those messages have been burned on the hard drive of your heart. And anytime you want to do something significant, you just hear those old messages replaying and they tap into your inner me that says, "I am not adequate or capable to do this."
What exasperates the problem is that followers of Yeshua have a very real enemy accuser that just re-inforces the unfair criticism that people have spoken over you. Day and night Satan will confirm your worst fears about yourself. He will work hard to make sure you never, ever see yourself the way God sees you. He is happy if you think too highly of yourself and evenly happy if you think too lowly of yourself.
He will whisper in your spiritual ear, "They were right when they said you were pathetic, there is no way you will ever get that that promotion, don’t even try. Of course that job did not go through because your a quitter and God does not honor quitters, you always give up, and God will not open a door for you because you are a quitter, a failure."
Or He will whisper in your spiritual ear, "Your the reason why your children are living in addiction in sin, you are the reason they are failing, your failure as a parent, you will never be as good as so-and-so, don't even dare to try to talk to your kids now about change, about promise, about a God of Wonders, your fluke, a hypocrite, a failure."
Satan would love to keep you defeated and trapped. But we have to throw him out of the court of our heart just like he will one day be thrown out of the court of heaven. How do you do this? Rabbi Paul said in Romans 12:1–2 TLV
I urge you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice—holy, acceptable to God—which is your spiritual service. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
The answer is to shape your view of who you are based should be based on God’s view of who you are. Look at these 12 Things God Says About You:
- I am part of God’s family. John 1:12
- I am a friend with God. John 15:15
- I am accepted by God. Romans 8:1I
- I am an heir with Messiah. Romans 8:17
- I am a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17
- I am well resourced. Ephesians 1:3
- I am hand selected by God. Ephesians 1:4
- I am accepted totally and completely. Ephesians 1:7
- I am given a place of influence and authority. Ephesians 2:10
- I am an insider and not an outsider Ephesians 2:13
- I am an overcomer. 1 John 5:4
- I Can Do All Things Through Messiah. Philippians 4:13
This is just scratching the surface of all that God says about you but what if today you started to declare this over your life. What if you accepted that this represents God’s will for you. This represents God’s view of you. What if you just took this by faith and cast down every lying accusation of the evil one? I can tell you what will happen. You will start to experience and see new victory in your life. You will increase, you will go up a level, you will start to walk in confidence, not pride, because your hope, your joy, your identity is firmly rooted on God’s will about you in His Word.
May the Lord God of Israel give you faith to declare His Will and His Word over your life. May you cast that old accuser out of the courtroom of your heart today just like the Lord will cast him out of the courtroom of heaven in the future.
