But now these three remain— faith, hope, and love💕. And the greatest of these is love. - Corinthians 13:13 TLV
Rabbi Paul discloses for us the three essentials, bare minimums that define the path of Yeshua disciples. He says that when all things are fully known and all childish things are put away the three essentials are: faith, hope, and love. The greatest of these three is love but it does not nullify the other others. Faith and hope and love are essential ingredients for Yeshua disciples.
We are encouraged by such passages as "the righteous shall live by faith"; "the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God"; and "we walk by faith, not by sight" (Rom. 1.17; Gal. 2.20; 2 Cor. 5.7) to live a life by faith. By faith are we to live. But while this principle may be quickly grasped in the mind it is not so readily experienced in life.
You have probably seen Yeshua disciples hit faith highs and lows. One minute they are up and the next they are down. This is not walking by faith but walking by emotion. The life of faith is not always the same as the life of feeling. When believers live by sensations they will only follow God's will or seek the things above purely at the time of excitement but when the blissful feelings cease, every activity terminates.
It is not so for the Yeshua who walks by faith. God has called you to walk by faith not by feelings. You may feel great this morning but that does not mean you are walking by faith just yet. You may feel like a cloud is hanging over you but that does not mean you are not walking by faith. Whether you feel great or feel blue you are called to walk by faith because both feelings - cloudy day or sunny day - can pull you away from the life of faith.
Today, no matter how you feel you must exercise your faith. Exercise your faith by praising God for the good season you are in or by faith declare God’s promises to break up the cloudy season you are in. If you will place your faith above your feelings you will find that your feelings will naturally elevate to joy and peace because in the presence of the Lord is fulness of joy (Psalm 16:11) and wherever the Spirit of God is moving there is shalom freedom (2 Cor 3:17).
May the Lord God of Israel set your feet on the path of life. May you walk as a Yeshua disciple in faith, hope and love. May your faith rise above your feelings and produce in your heart God’s full joy and total shalom freedom.
