For we walk by faith, not by sight. - 2 Corinthians 5:7

Heart Thoughts

We have a saying in the Jewish community, “In a market filled with the blind, they call the one-eyed person, ‘Bright eye.’” This little saying was the result of a group of Rabbis discussing how God often does great things through deeply flawed people. People like Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Peter and Paul were all deeply flawed but they walked by faith and did great things. Hence, in a world of blind sight-walkers they had at least the eye of faith opened and are called “bright eye.”

There are people today who are blind but think they have sight. They are blind because they do not walk by faith but by sight. They want to be blessed but they think they can receive that blessing by their own powers. They don’t think that faith in God’s Word and Promises will direct them to prosper and live in victory. But for those who do walk by faith they know the power of faith to bring about His blessings and victory. They know that faith opens up supernatural doors! They know that faith causes them to see His favor! Those that walk by faith and not by sight are often called “bright eye” in a market filled with the blind.

Don’t let the blind sight walkers talk you out of walking by faith. Don’t let them convince you that God’s Word isn’t true. That His promises towards you are not “yes” and “amen.” He’s got an amazing track record in the Scriptures and I know He has already done so much in your past, and He’ll do more in your future. Keep standing, keep believing, and keep walking by faith.

You may not have all the rough places of your life perfect. You may have some deep flaws you are still working on. You may have just fallen down. Don’t worry. Don’t let the sight-walkers tell you that there is no hope for you. Just remember, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Peter and Paul were all deeply flawed faith walkers. And just like them, in a market filled with blind sight walkers, when you walk by faith and not by sight, you will also be called “bright eye.”

May the Lord God of Israel renew your confidence in His Word today. May He encourage your heart to not be a sight walker but a faith walker. May He causes fresh water to spring up inside of you and give you great faith that His promises towards you are “yes” and “amen.”
