Day 14

salm 3:5 - I lie down and sleep. I awake—for Adonai sustains me.

Heart Thoughts

More than a third of older adults in the United States are taking pills to help them sleep, according to new research. All the data shows that the average American is so stressed out and worried that a good night’s sleep seems like a far off dream. However, almost all doctors agree that neither sleeping pills nor zzzquil will solve this problem.

David said that Adonai stands ready to sustain you at night and to strengthen you in the morning. That means He wants your body to get its necessary rest and also to have you strengthened for the day. In Psalm 3, David was facing enemies all around him, sprouting like mushrooms and closing in on his life. Yet, he did not loose a wink of sleep and neither did he wake feeling exhausted, for Adonai sustained him.

What are you facing? Worry? Struggle? Stress? Problems? What is keeping you up at night and wearing you down in the morning? If you know Adonai you don’t have to have sleepless nights, you can have restful sleep. You don’t have to wake up and feel worn out, you can wake up feel sustained by Adonai. You may not be wearing a crown on your head like King David but you are not a beggar; you are a child of the Most High God. You have been made a son or daughter, an heir in the Kingdom of God. That means Adonai, the faithful covenant keeping God, will provide you with peaceful rest and strength to face the day.

Bracha

May Adonai sustain you as you sleep tonight. May you experience His rest and shalom in your mind, body and soul. May Adonai empower you with strength to face the day and overcome any and all obstacles facing you.
