Day 7

Scripture

For you have made Elyon your dwelling, even Adonai, who is my refuge, so no evil will befall you nor any plague come near your tent. - Psalm 91:9-10

Heart Thoughts

El Elyon means God has the right to overrule. In David’s case, God used David, a shepherd and teenager, with no combat experience, to overpower a Philistine War Hero named Goliath. The odds weren’t in David’s favor. Neither were his choice in weapons: a slingshot. Yet one man plus one El Elyon is more than enough to defeat humanity’s biggest giants because El Elyon is the God who is Most High over heaven and earth.

Friend, never look at your odds first. Don’t let the giants talk you down. You need to talk the giants down. Don’t let that mountain of a problem overshadow you, you need to get in the shadow of El Elyon. The odds won’t give you the final story. Never focus on the size of your problem. Rather, focus on the enormity of your God, El Elyon.

You might know lots of people in very high places: a boss, a friend, circumstances, banker, doctor, and so on. But you are to never view them as El Elyon because they do not possess heaven and earth. They are not your dwelling place, El Elyon is your dwelling place. The minute you you lift someone else or some other situation higher than God, you create an idol, a false elyon. An idol isn’t just a carved object to be worshipped with candles burning and incense. No, an idol is anything you substitute for El Elyon.

Today, make El Elyon your dwelling. Make Him the Source and everything else a resource in your life. Do you feel down, let El Elyon pick you up. Do you have a need, let El Elyon overrule your lack. Is a situation more powerful than you facing you down, have confidence in the Name, El Elyon. Take some time to read through Psalm 91:1-13 and stand on the amazing promises of the Name of El Elyon today.

Bracha

May El Elyon overrule any situation today that is facing you down. May the great power of the Most High God overshadow you and cover you. May you feel safe, stable, and secure in His powerful shelter. May you experience the overwhelming hope that is in the Name, El Elyon.
