Day 13

The Scripture

For this service of giving is not only supplying the needs of the kedoshim, but is also overflowing with many thanksgivings to God. Because of the evidence of this service, they praise God for the obedience of your affirmation of the Good News of Messiah and for the generosity of your contribution to them and to everyone.  – 2 Cor 9:12-13

Heart Thoughts

One of the things I get the privilege of being part of at Beth Messiah is blessing wonderful leaders, musicians and pioneers of the messianic movement in Israel.  We are so blessed as a congregation to have a living legacy of supplying the needs of many works in Israel.

In recent days, we have seen our synagogue come along side of the notable artist Paul Wilbur and richly bless his ministry in the land. We also have recently blessed another Israeli folk worship team called Miqedem.  Beyond that, every month we support congregations and their leaders in the land and several mitzvah projects like: IBF and the Joseph Project.  Really, the list is a roll-call list of all kinds of practical ministries we are helping in the land.

As a result of this, we receive hundreds of thank you letters and testimonial reports of the work God is doing.  We know that our support is going to meet practical needs like groceries, keeping the lights on, gas in cars, Bibles and food for the poor and widow. Yet, we know meeting these practical needs is what enables the Gospel to go forth.  And, it blesses my heart to know that one person has been given just a little more hope to continue on, one person has a just a little bit more faith to push through, that one person knows they are a little bit more loved and that encourages their heart.

To know your giving is helping others give glory back to God then that is reason enough to be generous. To know that hearts and lives are positively impacted and encouraged to praise God because of meeting basic needs is perhaps the greatest joy ever.  Rabbi Paul says that not only does supplying needs result in God’s praise, but it also is evidence that you are His. You are His disciple by how you love others.

Prayer

May the Lord God of Israel use you today to cause others to overflow with Thanksgiving to Him.  I pray that you too would show the evidence of your service and faith and that others would erupt into praise as a result.
