Our congregation is really good about supporting widows and orphans and Holocaust survivors in practical ways in Israel through Israel Benevolence Fund. We also reach out to homeless and poor people in Greater Houston on a monthly basis by providing food distribution downtown through the Mitzvah Ministry.
What we may not realize is that there are also people among us at CBM who need the same care. How can we sit down to eat on Shabbat without doing something for them? CBM's Harvest Table Ministry--designed with wise oversight, boundaries, and supervision-- has specific needs on a weekly basis to feed others within the congregation.
If you are looking for a way to be involved personally, call the CBM office.
If you would like to know what things you could pick up at the store and bring to any service, here is a list of items that are needed every week or every month:
HARVEST FOOD PANTRY NEEDS
When making donations to the pantry, you can use the list below for suggestions. Donations can be placed in the kitchen.
And, did you know that donations to the Food Table are tax deductible if you keep your receipts documenting your purchases? Or instead of shopping yourself, you can write a check to CBM noting Food Table in the memo section and CBM will shop for you. You will then have your canceled check and your statement from CBM at the end of the year to document your deduction.
Also remember, you can double your blessing by purchasing your items at Randall's or Krogers if you have linked your card to their charitable giving programs. There are forms on the literature table to do so if you haven't and would like to participate.

Please support our food pantry by bringing donations to any service.
Donations can be put in the kitchen on the pantry carts. You can also make a donation by putting "Harvest Table" in the memo section of your check.
You can also DONATE TO CBM DURING CHECKOUT!
Every time you buy groceries, you can be a blessing to your congregation as well as to your family. By linking your Randalls and Kroger cards to Beth Messiah, a percentage of your total spending will be donated to CBM as part of these Community Partner/Share Programs. It's easy to do!
Randalls: Ask the Courtesy Booth at Randalls to link your Remarkable Card to our congregation (# 8991). Then every time you use your Remarkable Card at checkout, Randalls will donate 1% of your purchase price to Beth Messiah.
Kroger: Pick up a "barcode sheet" from the literature table or visit this link below to print your own.
This sheet explains how easy it is to link your Kroger Plus card to Beth Messiah the next time you shop at Kroger. Once linked, CBM will receive a percentage of your total annual spending.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS KROGER'S NEW PROCEDURE REPLACING THE OLD WHITE SHARE CARD YOU HAD TO SEPARATELY SCAN AT CHECKOUT.
Thank you for your support! With rising food costs, it's good to know at least some of your expenditure will return to help CBM to continue to grow! A wonderful mitzvah!
