Initially we planned to have Cherubim on either side of the Ark but then decided for golden Menorahs on either side.
This is one of two of our golden Menorahs. The lamp stands remind us of the presence of God that lit the way into the Most Holy Place.
The Ner Tamid, Hebrew (NEHR tah-MEED), literally, “eternal light.” The light fixture in front of the ark in every synagogue that is constantly lit.
As Beth Messiah grows we have plans to build out a meditative garden-courtyard that is enclosed by twelve pillars.
Look, I am laying in Tziyon a tested stone, a costly cornerstone, a firm foundation-stone; he who trusts will not rush here and there.
Our Architect, Philip Bean, drew his inspiration for our building from classic basilica style European synagogues.
Above each door that welcomes you to Beth Messiah is a key Hebrew word that underscores who we are and what we do as a Kehillah Kedoshah: Torah - God's Word to Us; Avodah - Service of the Heart; Chesed - Acts of Kindness.
The sun setting in the West causes the Menorah window to create a shadow that moves upwards on our Sanctuary wall.
Our Sanctuary, which can be expanded to 500 seat capacity, offers comfortable theater style seating, glass windows, wood accents and an exceptional and uniquely designed ark.
Our building is 85,000 square feet fitted with beautiful imported Jerusalem stone and marble, creating a welcoming and inspiring space.
