Shabbat, Sept. 1, 2007
"Let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them."
A letter from the Messianic Rabbi
On Sept.1, 2007 at our 10:00 A.M. Shabbat service, we officially dedicated ourselves and our new building to the L-rd.
Here is a letter from our Messianic Rabbi Richard Freeman and his wife, Patsy, for the dedication.
"After 25 years of being "Wandering Jews," the Lord has allowed us to establish a more permanent place for Him to dwell with us. This will be our seventh location but the first time to have a home of our own. We are very thankful for all of those sweet places and seasons but are so thrilled to be finally coming to a land called Rehoboth, saying as Isaac did, "For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land."
Our Jewish fathers showed us how exciting and awesome it can be to build and then dedicate such dwelling places to the Lord. We read about the Israelites lifting up their voices with joy, with shouting and singing, with instruments of praise and trumpets blowing continually, and dancing with such abandon that a great king seemed undignified. When reading about Solomon fulfilling the desire of his father's heart to build a house for the God of Israel, we are brought to a place of humility: "But will God indeed dwell with men on earth? Behold, the heaven and Heaven of heavens cannot contain You; how much less this house that I have built."
In order to help us prepare our hearts for the wonderful new season we are approaching, beginning with walking the Torah scroll to its new home on August 4th, we would like to encourage you to read some pertinent Scriptures which will help you enter into the Spirit of worship and exaltation of Adonai. These are just a few examples of how Israel approached Adonai and how He exceeded their highest expectations. We do not want to miss the significance of the next few weeks at Congregation Beth Messiah, so let's allow His Word to be a "lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path."
